Saturn vs. Uranus: And the winner is ... Obama!

November 7, 2008 9:43 AM by Sherene Schostak

'If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer .'

--President-Elect Obama

It's wonderfully mind-blowing the way the first of the exact oppositions between these two collective heavyweights occurred on the day of the election. No wonder this was one of the most exciting elections, if not the most charged election in history!

Saturn as the archetype of tradition, elderly people, wisdom, the collective norms, the tried and true, status, separation; and Uranus illustrating shocking change, breakthroughs, freedom, experimentation, interdependency and humanitarianism. I still can't get over the way the election evoked so many of the archetypes. 'Status Quo' (Saturn) 'Maverick' (Uranus), 'Change' (Uranus), 'United States' (Uranus) 'Bipartisanship' (Saturn) were so frequently bandied about as the two archetypal energies duked it out on the political stage. Thinking about how this opposition would play out in terms of the election, naturally the winner would have to be the man who could truly hold what Jung called the 'tension of the opposites,' someone who can embody both Saturn and Uranus. That clearly was Barack Obama. With his Aquarius ascendant, ruled traditionally by Saturn and in modern astrology by Uranus, and his strong Saturn in its own sign of Capricorn -- he truly embodies the best of both worlds. It's not easy to contain both of these powerful archetypes without choosing sides. Even in Obama's acceptance speech, he gave equal voice to both of these archetypes. I'll recap a few of my favorite moments from the speech:
'Theroad ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America -- I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will get there.'(Saturn: the work to get there; Uranus: the promise of change.)

'As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours: We are not enemies, but friends ... though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.' (Saturn: responsibility; Uranus: everyone is needed, included, and everyone is important.)

Many people could not help but comment on how Obama is such a great man, that he almost feels more like a spiritual leader than a politician. This to me is the true promise of Saturn and Uranus coming together in the collective psyche: the spiritual and the material values truly uniting.

Yes, we hope that Obama is a great man. But, I am a "wait and see" kind of person. So far, I agree with what he is doing and what he says he wants and is going to do for our country and our people. Everyone says he's African American and he is half. He is also half Caucasian. I voted for both his halves. I have no regrets, so far.

Won't someone comment on the assassination pattern for US Presidents, the conjunction of Saturn & Jupiter (related, in my opinion, to the 6-5 BC birth date for Jesus), in regards to JFK, Reagan plus the Pope, the other assassinated US Presidents, & US horoscope?
